Dr. Ezekia Svotwa is a seasoned Agriculture expert with over 30 years’ experience in Agriculture Education, Training and Research as well as Commercial Crop production. Dr. Ezekia Svotwa started as a secondary School Agriculture Teacher (1991-2002) and was involved in Agriculture curriculum development. He joined the Ministry of Agriculture as a lecturer at Esigodini College of Agriculture and served for 2 years before joining the Chinhoyi University of Technology in 2004. Between 2008 and 2014, Dr. Svotwa was at the Tobacco Research Board/ Kutsaga Research Station where he served as Head of Crop Division (2008-2009) and later Head of Field Services (2009-2014) where he was coordinating the UNIDO Methyl Bromide Phase-out from Tobacco seedlings project, Crop Research and Commercial Tobacco Production. In 2014, Dr. Svotwa rejoined Chinhoyi University of Technology and was appointed the Director of Tobacco and Commercial Crops in 2016, a post he held until December 2018. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture, a Master of Science in Agricultural Meteorology, a Bachelor of Science Honours in Crop Science, and a Graduate Certificate in Education all from the University of Zimbabwe. Dr. Svotwa authored several secondary school agriculture modules, a textbook, and more than 80 research articles in both refereed and non-refereed journals, and his Ph.D. research involved crop area and yield estimation using remote sensing. As an Agriculture Practitioner, Educationist and Researcher Dr. Svotwa will contribute greatly to the technical operations of the Cottco Board.
